    The best "halfway line goal" for two reasons. 1) he actually lobbed the ball over the keeper's head a lot higher in the air than he needed to, maybe double. This is incredibly difficult to get right as the ball at that angle has a much greater chance of missing the goal completely, also by bouncing over it. You will not see a more difficult long range shot, unless it was the same option, but from the side. 2) He was moving from the side, twisting away from the opponent, rather than taking a long run up. Beckham's was startling as it was perhaps the first caught on TV by someone in a famous team, for a long while – but he took a good run up with a clear sight of goal and gave the ball as flat a trajectory as possible to clear the keeper. It's the safer choice, but not as impressive as Depay's courage, confidence or execution.
